HAMILTON WATCH

Wrist-watch by Hamilton

This watch designed by Hamilton can be seen in various shots in this web site, including on Gary Lockwood's wrist, but is never seen in the film (has anyone spotted it?). The version that Hamilton put into production was markedly different from the example shown here, but collectors of watches and 2001-o-bilia alike are always interested in both types, so here are a few more pictures to enjoy.

The production version did not include the curved plate with the three time displays, but instead the case was unusual in being of varying thickness, so viewed edge-on it has an asymmetrical look not evident in any of these shots. The production watch was named the "Odyssee 2001", I believe in a rather lame attempt to avoid copyright liability. It was not in Hamilton's catalogue for very long, but examples still turn up for sale occasionally, in varying states of repair.

Thanks to Mitch for passing these pictures on. I am advised that the originals are on display at the NAWCC (National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors) in Pennsylvania (USA).

What's that? 2001, and no digital watches?!
